Conrad Clenton

jazz woodwind

Conrad is a deeply passionate Leeds-based jazz saxophonist who is well versed in playing a wide range of jazz and contemporary music. After building up years of experience performing live and recording across the UK, Conrad has developed into a truly reliable and dependable musician.

Graduating from Leeds Conservatoire in 2025, Conrad has continued to pursue his craft and brings a strong, devoted attitude to any gig or session he plays in. He demonstrates this in bands like Ferg’s Imaginary Big Band, the Dan Coulthurst Quintet, Afrodesia and his own nonet, where audiences are captivated by his energetic performance style. Conrad is constantly pushing himself to push musical boundaries with free jazz duo projects like Clenton/Goulding Duo and Zumbi, where he explores a more expressionistic and experimental side to his playing.

During his time at Leeds Conservatoire, Conrad put the time in to refine his skills on several woodwind instruments but always specialised on the baritone saxophone. Studying under renowned UK jazz tutors such as Jim Corry and Edgar Jones, Conrad was able to flourish into the capable baritone player he is today. Though baritone is his focus, Conrad delivers compelling performances on bass clarinet, flutes, and the rest of the saxophone family. He even featured on bass saxophone on his first Ronnie Scott’s gig.

Conrad is a versatile, adaptable, and resilient musician who is concentrated on developing his artistry to the absolute best of his ability.
